The cottage has a main level with a sofa that folds down into a queen size, very comfortable fouton bed; a sleeping loft with another queen bed and the lower level with a third queen bed. This is an all season place to stay with lots of wildlife and birds: eagles, osprey, hummingbirds, mink, otter, seals, porpoises and of course, the orcas -- have the whale watching boat pick you up from the dock, or bring your kayak or canoe (or rent one locally) and paddle a short distance to a favourite hang out of the porpoises and a favourite path of the orcas.
This property is located on the north end of South Pender Island, 13 kms from the ferry terminal and only a few kilometers from grocery and other shopping. The island has a bakery, 3 grocery stores, gift shops, artist's studios, a cold beer and wine store, a liquor store, several good - excellent restaurants. Women travelling together or alone are safe on Pender Island. Kingfisher Cove is also proving to be a very popular choice for honeymooners and other romantic getaways. Kingfisher Cove has recently acquired a 100 year old antique double ended cast iron soaker tub for its lower protected deck and so a hot bath outside, with a fabulous view of the sea is a favourite reason to visit.

Catch crab off the dock or buy fresh seafood at the Hope Bay dock. Buy organic produce at the Farmer's Market and/or from the stands by the roadside. Visit artists at work in their studios or just explore the island.
Our cottage is eco-sensitive by design. The garden is exotic, with something curious and wonderful to be found at every turn. Blackberries and other goodies to forage as the seasons change. Kingfisher Cove is popular on a year round basis given our wonderfully mild climate with only 17% of Vancouver or Seattle's rainfall. Many of our guests return time and again. The autumn & winter have many sunny days and have their own special attractions including any even more special sense of peace and tranquility.

There are many nearby hking trails - hike out the back door into the marine park or up Mt. Norman immediately behind us - in 45 minutes you will reach the peak with views of all the other Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands. In season, treat yourself to a cozy fire and share a massage using our spa rocks for therapy; or do some yoga on the lower deck or the lawn, both overlooking the sea. In spring, you will be surrounded by daffodils, rhododendrons and butterflies. The shower overlooks the sea and is a whole room of glass and glass blocks, facing south into the warmth of the sun and full of orchids, so don't let our mild winter deter you! Wood burning stove/open fire, gas cooking, gas barbecue, huge sunbrela and Mexican hammocks in the sun and in the shade.
