Question:  How do we get there?

  Answer:
By air to Victoria Int'l Airport-and then by AKAL Airport Shuttle to our door, or taxi which we can arrange at the right price, or rent a car at the airport.
By ferry as a foot passenger from Port Angeles, Bellingham, Seattle or Vancouver-take the Pacific Coach Lines Bus.
By car ferry-Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles into the Victoria Inner Harbour, by Washington State ferry from Anacortes to Sidney, a half hour north of Victoria, by British Columbia ferry from Tsawwassen ( where the ferries from Vancouver depart from) to Swartz Bay (a half hour north of Victoria) or by BC Ferry from Horseshoe Bay (north of Vancouver) to Nanaimo (two hours north of Victoria.
The BC ferries are the largest boats and sail more frequently so you have more chance of getting on them.
We can provide pickup service from the Inner Harbour ferries and central bus depot, if pre-arranged
We do provide our guests with off-street parking.

Question:   Can we do Victoria in one day?
  Answer:
You cannot really do justice to Victoria and the Island in one day - there is so much to see and do - allow at least two days if not three - Vancouver Island is a very large island with outstanding scenery.

Question:  Are your rooms well maintained and inspected?

Yes by British Columbia Tourism, but we are our strongest inspectors and we pride ourselves in keeping a proper house.

Question:  Should I book ahead for Whale Watching?
  Answer:
It is very popular from March onwards until the end of September and is a must do-many of our guests have seen more than 20 whales in a sighting. We can arrange a fine day of whale watching tailored to your likes and style. Ask us about 5Star Whales - a family oriented whale watching group - We can reserve for you.

Question:  Where exactly are you located?
  Answer:
Our House is located just to the east of the downtown, away from the hustle and bustle. Proceed east on Fort street, turn right on Belmont and there we are. We are a five minute drive to and from the Inner Harbour, on a regular bus route, and in a very safe, old neighbourhood amongst the most gorgeous gardens and houses. MAP attached

Question:  Is your House non smoking?
  Answer:

Yes-it is totally non smoking and has been for many years

Question:  Is your house pet friendly?

Answer:  Yes

Question:  Do we need bookings for High Tea at the Empress?
  Answer:
Yes - bookings are essential, in the summer in particular, and a dress code applies. We can arrange bookings for our guests so you don't miss out. You should also consider having Tea at Point Ellice House which is a heritage House with everything original to the family that gave the house to the people of BC. It is very special and the gardens are lovely to relax in.

Question:  Are the antique stores far away?
  Answer:
They are located on Fort St, and are about a fifteen  minute walk from our house. Lunds and Kilshaws, both very popular Auction Houses, have web sites so you can look at what they have on hand before your visit.

Question:  Is Butchart Gardens a must see?
  Answer:
It is world class with out a doubt and should not be missed - they have fire works on Saturday evenings, and it is very popular so you will want to get out there early, perhaps have dinner in the original family home restaurant before the show. We can make a booking for you!
