Hotel and Motel Room Tax

Except for campground and houseboat tourist accommodation, all rates quoted on this site, for properties offering four or more units are subject to an 8% provincial hotel and motel room tax. Where approved, an additional 2% tourism tax is levied by the local municipal government. This tax is not applicable to rates charged for lodging rented to the same person for a continuous period of more than 60 days.

Hotel and Motel Room Tax

Goods and services tax of 7% is applicable to most purchased goods and services (including lodging), but rebates can be claimed by non-residents of Canada. This tax is not applicable to rates charged for lodging rented to the same person for a continuous period of more than 30 days.

General Traveller Information

United States Citizens

  • Do not need passports or visas.
  • Proof of citizenship is required: Birth Certificate, Voters Registration or Baptismal Certificate should be carried.As well as a valid Drivers License.
  • Persons under 18 (not accompanied by adult): Should produce a letter from parent or guardian providing permission to enter Canada.

Citizens from Other Countries

  • Must posses a valid national passport or other recognized travel documents. Weapons
  • Revolvers, Pistols, Fully Automatic Firearms and Other Weapons and Self Defence Sprays (mace, pepper spray) are prohibited entry into Canada.

Pets
